Encouraging Active Role of Men in Pregnancy Journey

Women's pregnancy journeys are shaped and influenced by patriarchal socio-cultural practices. Imagine, design interventions that will encourage men to move beyond roles of just being ‘providers’ and ‘transporters’ and reify gender norms.

Probing questions:

How might we resolve challenges posed by patriarchal socio-cultural practices to increase agency of pregnant woman towards their own care?

How might the design intervention address challenges posed by patriarchal structures in shaping and influencing access to health facilities, food and diet and technology use?

How might men support the ‘hidden infrastructuring work’ by pregnant woman while seeking, navigating, adapting and sustaining healthcare services within and beyond the home?

How might the design solutions to facilitate lines of communication between the couple and increase men’s involvement in pregnancy and childbirth?
